Reglan / Metoclopramide

Matthews & Associates - Reglan / Metoclopramide

Reglan / Metoclopramide - is a drug used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as reflux and gastroparesis. There are many forms of the drug including tablet, liquid, and injectable. Reglan/Metoclopramide has been linked to a debilitating disease called tardive dyskinesia, a disorder that causes involuntary, repetitive movements of the extremities, mouth, and face. Tardive dyskinesia is rarely reversible and there is no known treatment at this time.

For over 20 years the drug manufacturers knew about the link between their drug and this disease, but did not properly warn its users. Only on February 26, 2009, did the FDA step in and order the addition of a black box warning to all forms of Reglan/Metoclopramide. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with tardive dyskinesia and have used Reglan/Metoclopramide in the past, please contact Matthews & Associates today.
